Youth Leadership Forum
What is the Youth Leadership Forum and why do we sponsor one?
The purpose of the Youth Leadership Forum is to teach students of the
skills needed to advocate for themselves today and into the future as
adults.
There are two distinct modules of the Forum. Our event begins
in late 2006 with youth selected from our application process choosing
six issues facing young adults today. Through educational
exercises and guest speakers, the youth will learn of appropriate ways
to become involved in the legislative process; how to become an advocate
for issues he or she believes in; how the voter's registration process
works; how becoming an informed voter can affect change. See the
schedule below.
The Youth Leadership Forum culminates with a rally at the state
capital in early 2007. Youth meet with Legislators and Congressmen
to express the areas of their concern and advocate for the positions
they believe will be most beneficial to those affected. Apply by
completing the application
and returning it to our office before the deadline.
