Leadership Forum is a day-long activity for area youth to learn leadership and advocacy skills in preparation for the following trip to the state capitol to meet with state lawmakers.  Learn more here.  The next Leadership Forum will be held in fall 2010 with the trip to Austin scheduled for February 2011.

Responsive Attentive Peers (RAP) are life-skills groups for youth, offered at community locations such as youth clubs, schools and community centers.

Youth Advocacy Council involves area youth, including current and former clients, who act as ambassadors to the community. They meet regularly to provide feedback about programs, lead activities in the shelter, offer support to the agency, and create a forum for youth to have a voice in the community.  We are accepting applications for membership now - click here to apply.

Diversity Conference is a one-day event at which youth tackle specific challenges to gain an understanding of trials that come with trying to operate in today’s world with those problems.  The conference is scheduled for November 14, 2009.  Click here to apply.

Project Safe Place is a network of public places reaching out to youth in crisis. Through presentations at local schools, youth learn that when they need assistance, they can look for the yellow and black Safe Place sign at an area business.  Once they arrive at the Safe Place site, the employees make sure the youth is safe and comfortable and then contact us.  We dispatch our trained staff to talk to the youth and help determine the next course of action.  Serving Grayson, Fannin, Cooke, Hunt, Lamar, Delta, Hopkins and Rains counties.

Here are the Safe Place sites as of March 13, 2009:
